PRESERVE
HISTORIC PRESERVATION - RESTORATION - REHABILITATION
MCF has maintained a long tradition of sensitive – but transformational – interventions in historic buildings and sites, ranging from National Historic Landmarks to historic “signature” campus buildings. We endeavor to understand the existing building by gathering information on its history, original construction, later modifications, and uses over time. Intervention in buildings with historic significance must look to the future, but must also be informed by the past.

Kauke Hall
THE COLLEGE OF WOOSTER
Designed in 1902, Kauke Hall is the main academic building on the College of Wooster campus. Our renovation was more of a reclamation; removing the 1960's drop ceilings to expose the timber frame and full-height windows, and connecting what was once five separate "learning units." With the renovation the building continues to be the icon of the college and the heart of the Wooster campus. Graduation is still staged here every Mother's Day and students still pack the arch with snow every winter!
